Black Cat Bone formed in 2006 purely by accident, four ruffians were asked to fill in for a new years eve gig at the last minute. Never having played together they pooled there knowledge of the blues to create a set for that evening...it went down rather well.
Bursting with enthusiasm, three of those young scallywags went on to form The Bone (like Spinal Tap they have had a few drummers), finally cementing the lineup in 2008.
There unique twin guitar sound brings together the early feel of the blues pioneers, with 60's
licks and a modern funk twist.
Without blowing their own trumpet The Grapevine said:
One of the best blues bands to emerge in our region. Black Cat Bone haven't attempted to re-invent the wheel. Instead they've stamped their authority on a selection of blues chestnuts. It's not hard to hear why this four piece are going down a storm in pubs. Their twin guitar approach brings fresh impetus to material made famous by Muddy Waters, Albert King, Freddie King and Elmore James among many others. Black Cat Bone are a welcome addition to East Anglia's Blues Scene....which was nice.
First up we have 'Further on up the road'. a pretty standard swing affair with a boogie back line. Followed by 'Key to the Highway', but not as you've ever heard it. We've slowed it down and given it a syncapated, dirty feel...oh yes we can use clever musical terms as well you know! Then the climax, 'The Very Thing', a real funk breakdown. We are very happy with the new trio and we hope you will be too.
These numbers will be reveled on Friday the 19th at The Bull, yes folks thats the next BCB gig. Fully electric for your delectation and delight....It would be superb to see you there. Things are a moving on, and we are loving it!
